Bridgewater Sears Plaza B The South Shore Exhibition is proud to present the local talent of Ryan Cook. Ryan Cook grew up in a family of prominent dairy farmers in Yarmouth County and spent his spare time between ox-pulls and hockey games. Before taking to the honky-tonk music scene, Ryan played heavy metal music for ten years. His latest CD release Hot Times, with the opening track Pretty Sure, is a catchy montage of stories about troubles guys have and pretty girls. Cook is inspired by various performers from the 1950's and 60's including the vintage sounds of Little Jimmy Dickens who is known for his humorous novelty songs. Some of Cook's songs, including Little Doves, Sharpest Knife and ...Between the Buried And Me, depict a different story: one reflecting the darker side of small town life, despair and morality, while evoking the subtle nuances of Cook's punk and heavy metal past. Sunny Acres was produced by Ryan Cook and Dwight D'eon in January of 2007. The album contains six original songs and a version of Thomas Dorseys' hymn Peace in the Valley. The group's second album, Children Smiled was released in May of 2007. So get your cowboy hats on for Wednesday, July 23rd and support this local county star as we're Pretty Sure you won't want to miss it! |
